Lina Ferrara, CDA has studied fine art and decorative painting in the US and most recently studied gilding and traditional Italian decorative painting in Florence, Italy. An accomplished artist, she has had her work accepted into juried art competitions and recently participated in a 2 woman show at Out of the Blue Gallery in Lewisburg, PA. Her award winning work can be found in private collections in the US, Italy, Holland and Germany.

Lina Ferrara (Hoffmann) has written articles appearing in the Decorative Painter, Painting, Decorative Artist Workbook and other trade magazines. In addition she publishes a line of instructional booklets and packets and collaborated on the book “Raspberry Pie” where her work appears on the cover. She has demonstrated art materials for several paint manufacturers and brush companies in the US and Canada.

Passionate about her vocation, Lina is above all else a teacher, a guide for her students into a world populated by color, form and line. Teaching and demonstrating on the national level for almost 15 yrs at conferences and trade shows and for art associations, she provides her students with extensive technical knowledge, while instilling in them the confidence that they need to pursue subject matters of their own interest. Lina feels that mastering basic technique is key to developing individual style.

"I feel that sharing knowledge and awakening others to their creative potential are at the core of my philosophy, not only with respect to art but to life. My work and life have merged to one point that culminate in acting as a conduit, using words and actions of encouragement to guide the hesitant artist forward to trust their own original instinct.  We are so fortunate as creative artists to have a special place in the heart of God. If we allow it, we have the help of unseen hands to guide us in every choice whether it be the a choice of color to pick up on the brush or the course to follow in life. The trick is getting out of our own way long enough to accept that help into our lives."

She presently offers classes at her studio in rural central Pennsylvania as well as keeps an active travel schedule both in the US and abroad. A member of Toastmasters International, Lina happily accepts speaking engagements for a variety of groups.
An active member of the Society of Decorative Painters, she currently serves on the board of directors and was the past chairperson of the business committee. In addition she belongs to two of its affiliated chapters Penn’s Woods Painters and PA Mt Laurel Decorative Painters, and is a member of Craft & Hobby Association’s Designer Section.
